Tracking The Coalition's Progress

Recommended Posts

I've just found this rather meek looking graph which tracks the deficit and compares it with the previous year's spending.

If they're as serious as they say they are about about tackling the debt then I'd expect to see instant improvements in the state of the nations finances, for me it's the main litmus test to tell whether they're a half decent government or not.

If there are any better charts on the web please post em :)

The Spending Review will set departmental expenditure limits (DEL) for every Government

department. To ensure that the Spending Review looks comprehensively across the whole of

Government expenditure, it will also cover significant elements of Annually Managed

Expenditure (AME) where the risk is taken by the Exchequer as a whole, setting out plans for

savings and reform in these areas. These include:

• social security;

• tax credits; and

• public service pensions.
