Eurozone banks seek 111.2bln euros in 6-day loans: ECB
10:54, Thursday 1 July 2010
Eurozone banks asked on Wednesday for 111.2 billion euros (136.7 billion dollars) in six-day loans, the European Central Bank said, signalling stronger-than-expected demand as a record 442 billion euros in one-year loans came due.
A total of 78 banks requested the funds
, the ECB said, a day after 171 banks borrowed 131.9 billion euros for three months.
That operation had eased market worries over a possible credit squeeze which might hamper a eurozone economic recovery.

I suppose they could have asked for more money to help them out.
