It is the last place you would expect a violent explosion.But the tranquil surroundings of Edinbugh's Royal Botanic Garden have been disturbed recently by the curse of the exploding cucumbers. Two large plants in the arid lands house of the Botanics produce mini cucumbers which, when ripe, squirt a stream of sticky liquid containing seeds several metres from the plant.
