If your funds are really tied up until Jan then why torture yourself ? Jan is the earliest time you can buy, period. What's the point in worrying about things you can't do anything about ?

If your funds aren't really tied up and can be withdrawn with a penalty, it's a different issue. You need to judge whether paying the penalty is worth the benefit.
