Here's a full listing. Looking at them they seem to be self-sorted by quality:

Voting on the good ones, multi-choice but a public poll so you may have to justify your choice.

IMO the hospital ones are always a bit weak. Bed pans, blanket baths, wanting to go to the toilet, painful injections. Yawn.

Ok early ones:

1. Carry On Sergeant (1958)

2. Carry On Nurse (1959)

3. Carry On Teacher (1959)

4. Carry On Constable (1960)

5. Carry On Regardless (1961)

6. Carry On Cruising (1962)

7. Carry On Cabby (1963)

Golden years:

8. Carry On Jack (1963) with added Juliet Mills!

9. Carry On Spying (1964)

10. Carry On Cleo (1964)

11. Carry On Cowboy (1965)

12. Carry On Screaming! (1966) An X-certificate, no less.

13. Don't Lose Your Head (1966)

14. Follow That Camel (1967)

15. Carry On Doctor (1967)

16. Carry On... Up the Khyber (1968)

17. Carry On Camping (1969)

18. Carry On Again Doctor (1969)

19. Carry On Up the Jungle (1970)

20. Carry On Loving (1970)

21. Carry On Henry (1971)

22. Carry On at Your Convenience (1971)

23. Carry On Matron (1972)

24. Carry On Abroad (1972)

25. Carry On Girls (1973)

26. Carry On Dick (1974)

27. Carry On Behind (1975)

Bad, rubbish, awful, Carry on Emmanuelle:

28. Carry On England (1976)

29. That's Carry On! (1977)

30. Carry On Emmannuelle (1978)

31. Carry On Columbus (1992)

Guest happy?

I think I'd vote for some of the earlier ones - people like Hattie Jacques and Esma Cannon had much stronger roles back then...

Early ones were the best.

There's this most incredible butterfly in here right now, desperate as I am to take a pic to show you all, the wife has taken the camera into hospital to photograph . . .

It's huge, has the perfect camouflage colours of a leak in fine detail. Incredible bug.

I can't believe this has dropped off the front page.

Has the singular honour of being shot on location swung it for the Khyber (rhyming slang in case you hadn't spotted it)?

Oh crikey!

I met Kenneth Williams on the set of Carry on Cowboy and listened to him talk non stop for an hour without veering once from his chosen topic of going to the lavatory.

Go on then, expand it a bit.

Carry on Loving or Dating has got not just the funniest scene in a series of films that are generally speaking a bit naff, but also one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen in any film. The bit where Terry (of Terry & June "fame") goes round the house of his new date & is confronted by Joan Hickson the dates Victorianesque mother & family. Well if you've seen it you'll know which scene I'm on about.

Carry on films gave me the horn when i was about 10 years old,

Fwooooar!, Peggy Mitchell's bikini flinging off in Carry on Camping! **padoiiing**

and Pauline Fowler prancing around in her underwear in Carry on Girls... **twitches**

I wish my mrs discovered her sexuality through the carry on films. Maybe she'd be more reponsive when I ask for a "spot of tiffen"

Mount Snowdon in Wales I believe, still it convinced me as a kid.

Got to be Khyber, although most of the "historicals" are holding up well.

The modern day ones I don't find as funny, especially those made in the 1970s.

The exception to this is "Carry on Doctor" (1967) which is up there with the best of them.

Can I just say a word for the "unsung" Carry On regular, Peter Gilmore, who is in loads of the best films and is usually quite different in each one.

From Citizen Robespierre in "Don't Lose Your Head" to the lecherous ambulance driver Henry in "Carry on Doctor" to the upper-crust Captain Humphrey Bagshaw in "Follow that Camel" and Private Widdle's mate "Ginge" in "Khyber". And let's not forget "Roger the lodger" in "Jack".

The very early b&w ones without doubt. Which was the one where they ran an employment agency and Kenneth Connor can't stifle his giggles in a gentlemans club? I remember being in fits of laughter watching that one.

Where's Carry on Sergeant, the first of the lot?

William Hartnell as the brutal Sgt. Bullimore.

Oscar material.

Relegated because you only get 20 choices. Didn't rate it much myself, the Bob Monkhouse main character was just annoying.

..but it had Bill Hartnell in it! He was good (and dodgy) in Brighton Rock too.

I liked him in Dr Who, well the reruns I have seen as it was too early for me. That scene where he intends to abandon the teachers to do before Susan sees what he's doing and stops him (IIRC) was excellent. You just can't see the current sainted Dr Whos doing anything like that.

Happy days. I have to admit I had my adolescent eye on this actress in Carry on Girls:

He gets worse before the Beeb mellow him down. He tries to murder a caveman with a rock as he was slowing them down in episode 2! Then he lies about the fluid link to stay on Scaro. Difficult to see the Hartnell character being the same as the Matt Smith one, but there you go.
