Off-Topic Now Even More Boring Than The Main Forum

Recommended Posts

.. besides the recent rash of juvenile scatology threads, obsession with the medium (avatars/ sigs), "favourites" threads (songs, films), "which PC/Phone/dect telephone/nose hair trimmer should i buy?", tits, bums, todgers, hoffs etc.

not even any climate change or weight-loss-science debates.

is this the end of history?

i can't even be bothered to think of any more examples.

bag-o-shyte all round.

I like him.

Well great, good. If he wants to start an interesting topic, encourage him to do so.

Most of us here are just friends that find talking nonsense at each other relaxing.

sadly, noodle that's how it always starts. the end point is where all semi-serious forums eventually descend into becoming mumsnet.

it's what i call the shit-factor and it's inevitable. perhaps if all posters were anonymous?

Anyone would think you contributed something other than cite an author having barely read his writing.

Off you go, if you are not full of empty words.

Well, it doesn't matter. Sometimes new people come along and start some interesting stuff, but the rest of us have done all that so now it just becomes pub chatter, how are you, what you up to . . .

I have asked repeatedly for a 'pub sub-forum' where we can go and do this, because it must seem very dull to people just viewing the site.

But for us, we're quite happy.

Groan. Don't give me all that anodine, lovey-dovey, horse-heap. You and your stranger-friends are trying to do everything you possibly can to be edgy. Two Girls One Cup, Lazy-Town "sex symbols", ever-so-alternative polls. And the result? One big long yawn.

Face it, you've become "the establishment". It's all social irrelevance, pipes and slippers from here!

fair enough. no personal offence meant. i just detect that the balance has shifted recently to where this place now resembles a production of "waiting for godot".

is there really nothing significant happening in the universe right now?

Okay.

You and Eric need to find the 'ignore' function.

I think you find socialising difficult and stressful. It is good you are able to say so.

You should show us the video of you doing the martial arts. It could be an interesting talking point and help put you in a positive light.

:)

I suggested that to him previously, but I think it is good if he is able to have social interaction is a non-threatening forum.

You are very good at analysing people psychologically despite having extremely scant evidence.

You remind me of someone. Can't think who now.

Anyway, here is a totally unrelated video clip. No reason.

I see no need for stress either. Done with all that in life and I've found my intellectual level somewhere between plankton and toaster. Very happy with it.

If I might do the same, I think he is a nice guy, who perhaps was not great at football of making friends.

You can only guess. Here's what I know.

I see a man standing at a bar trying to pluck up the courage to talk to a girl. He sidles over, whips out his iphone and plays a clip he swiped off Youtube of a couple making the beast with two backs, before saying "how's about it?" because this guy simply can't comminicate without reference to streaming media.

How's that for psychoanalysis, huh?
