Think 45 Minutes Each Way Is Tough?

Isner vs Mahut is beating all records.

Now in the 5th set, the score stands at 52:52

Mahut has served 80 aces.

This thing is breaking all records.

Isner looks dead on his feet.

Amazing

Indeed. How do they stand it.

Smakck, return possibly. Wait for a minute or two and then another ten seconds.

Sorry to the churlish, it is a rather over-promoted game in the UK, considering the general lack of interest. I support a minority sport myself, but it has the grace to be treated as such.

The tall bloke was close to 100 aces when I last looked.

just the 56 / 55 now.

Asian spread-betting syndicate anyone?

You'd be an unprecedented winner on Total match games, total match aces etc.

Sorry to be cynical, but who remembers Matt Le Tissier.......

He kicked it out for an immediate throw? Thought that was David Howells?

Suspended at 59 / 59 after 10, yes 10 hours.

Just shows how much they are putting it on when the grunt and sweat after just an hour or so ... those sneaky buggers .... we've all been conned again ..... bloody lizard people ...

As opposed to: trot about for 2 minutes, sprint for 10 seconds, stand with hands on hips for a minute while ref sorts out foul, repeat for 45 mins. Go in for half time and nice rest.

Sorry to the churlish, it is a rather over-promoted game in the UK,...

Over-promoted? You seem to be labouring under the illusion that a sport is in itself popular. That may well have been the case in days of yore. Nowadays the reality is it's the promotion that makes the interest, not the other way round. Football is popular cos it's hardly ever off our screens. Tennis has a tiny window to enthuse people.

... considering the general lack of interest.

Shhh now, Tennis is exhausting, even a short rally takes it out of you - as for the gap inbetween points, 30 seconds at most.

And it's hardly over promoted, we only really hear about it for 4 weeks a year, and in that short space of 4 weeks it manages to generate a vast amount of interest - hardly a minority sport....

As for the match in question, quite amazing - I suggest they put it on centre court tomorrow to give the match a fitting send-off.

Fair play to the guys for having the stamina to keep that up.

However, to me this is the epitome of boredom - a sports match that drags on days.

I think they should just have tie breaks in the last set.

I dont think this current system is fair on the players or the spectators.

Cricket?

Yup. Must rate as one of the most boring sports on the planet.

Maybe i should start a boring sports thread.

I think they should have asked the referee and players at 50 games all to just have a tiebreak and be done with it.

It's got to the stage where whoever wins now may not actually be the best player. Which defeats the point.
