150 Courts To Close In England & Wales

Recommended Posts

Reading the below story about the 100 day consultation process begining in a West Wales court with the aim of closing it... it transpires that the court service is aiming to close 150 odd magistrates and county courts across England and Wales that are considered to be "underused" or "inadequate".

I wonder how many work in each court? Is it was as little as 10 people per court then it would be 1500 jobs going in the coming year.

We have a small air con service contract and our patch includes 4 of those on the list.. I would guestimate at least 50 direct employees in each court plus those that work servicing the property etc etc so I would suggest at least 100 per court are -if not redundant- affected.

When you said small air con service contract with regard to these courts for a moment I had visions of armed guards, rifles and transporting convicts by Hercules... but then I realised that you meant fans and cold air...

That is a lot of people per court to lose their jobs.
