Since we have been removed to a safe distance from the harmful radiation of the Main Forum, I feel this new lease of life should come with some other changes for all our regular listeners.

Now, Skinty has it right. Carry On characters or Monty Python characters (meaning I may retain the status of God) . . . for each of the Off-Topic regulars. Or other comedy figures with the exception obviously of Ronny Corbett, who wasn't actually a comedian or even mildly amusing, should also be considered.

If someone could find a resource for such avatars . . .

Cheers.

It would have to be Sir Bediviere:

Here's a good carry on gallery for avatars.

I hate it when people change their avatars!

I think I recognise people more by their avatars than their names!

Cue weeks of my relearning who everyone is! ;)

You're one of us. Why do you have a contaminated avatar? I'm getting radiation levels above 405 mrem, that's more than a barium enema.

Please go straight to decontamination and then report to the avatar issuing department.

Thank you.

Quork's top tips for avatar creation (PC only, don't know about Macs):

1. Google the image you want to use.

2. Right click on it and save to your C drive.

3. Open Paint (in your Accessories folder)

4. Open the pic file (in Paint) you downloaded.

5. Click on Image, then select Attributes.

6. The pic size can be no more than 90 x 90 pixels, so you'll need to reduce it...

7. Click on Image again, select Stretch/Skew

8. Reduce the vertical and horizontal percentages by however much you guesstimate the pic needs to be reduced by.

9. Click on image again, then attributes, and check the revised pixel size.

10. Repeat until the max dimension is 90 pixels.

11. Save as the new avatar file and upload to HPC.

If you still see your old avatar after uploading to HPC, press Ctrl and F5 at the same time to clear the cache files - this should sort the problem.

Using an avatar website? That's a bit conformist isn't it?

I was going to post a picture of Frank Hovis myself, so I googled and what did I find on the second page?

Small world.

I've been to a wedding where Barry Chuckle was also in attendance.

Non, no, no; that simply won't do. That sounds far too much like IT-geek talk; it looks like it's written in English when taking each word individually but in its entirety it's the equivalent of the teacher from Charlie Brown....waa wa waa wa

I doubt the Mods will even deign to visit us now we're down here; give it a few months and it'll be like Lord of the Feckin Flies.
