They will retain the premium I expect, but shop around!

Errol
Best to just stick to Gold eagles/Krugerrands/maples etc.
200p
Are these UK legal tender and CGT free? Queens head etc, The Isle of Man is not part of the UK and those are not legal tender. I believe if you disposed of them as a UK tax payer, CGT would apply. The same goes with Canadian Maple leafs/leaves(?), which also has the Queen's head. Gman
Best to just stick to Gold eagles/Krugerrands/maples etc. Nah, best to go for the cheapest 1oz, whatever it maybe.
Errol
Nah, best to go for the cheapest 1oz, whatever it maybe. There is an issue with recognition as well. Many advise people to stick to well-known/recognised coins from State mints.
Gman
There is an issue with recognition as well. Many advise people to stick to well-known/recognised coins from State mints. True, but there are more dodgy Krugers and Mexican 50 peso coins than any other. Errol, do you think that you would get more than a 'little' over spot or scrap value if you sold your maples to Bairds? I think so somehow. Errol
I was thinking more in terms of barter with other gold holders etc.
'Bart'
They are Legal Tender in the IOM, do your research. I think Money Spinner meant to say that they are not legal tender in the UK, so no CGT advantages.
