They get big.

There is one that goes for walks in my local park, appears to have a woman servant following it with BIG plastic bags picking up its mess.

Sometimes the mess is so big that the servant pretends she had not seen it.

Rescue dogs have been a success with me. Latest is a retired racing greyhound. Brilliant companion, and very affectionate. And he would have been put down otherwise......

Hmm, rescue dogs.

Better know what you're doing.

Greyhounds good choice as apart from tendency to chase/kill small animals(may include cats) they are usually OK.

Rescue border collies, terriers, German Shepherds, rotties etc, I'm not sure....

Experienced dog owners can retrain greyhounds and prevent them chasing/killing small animals. If not, there's always the muzzle.

I don't think they do. You must be thinking of the Big Terrier

Lakelands are quite small really weighing in at only about 17-18lb

You do know that people get dogs that look like them?

Before you ask, I have a greyhound. Perhaps it is wishful thinking, though.

The biggest Terrier is the Airedale Terrier, it's traditionally known as the King of Terriers, originally bred to hunt Otters, great dogs with a great tempremate, wouldn't be without my boy ;)
