Favourite Sci Fi Ship

I used to love the unnamed spacecraft that used to appear on the covers of the books I loved as a child.

...

I remember this cover being particularly evocative for me. I just had to buy this book, no matter how thick (a lot to read) and expensive it was.

Did the covers ever bear any relation to the actual contents of the book though? I read a lot of books like that years ago, and the covers just seemed to be entirely random.

Actually on second thoughts I vote for the starship Bistromath.

And I thought HMS Thunderchild was an obscure one to put in...

USS Rodger Young - Starship Troopers - Robert Heinlein

The captain did have a hot older woman thing going on there:

One of my personal faves

ZERO-X of course

Zero-X was a great ship.

Shame about Conrad Turner and his twitchy trigger finger though.

They had a bit of the "one size fits all approach. The Forever War features spaceships, the cover has spaceships on. Close enough (although I think the cover for FW was done specifically for that book).

Chris Foss used to do a lot of covers like this.

Here's another of my fave ships

I remember reading that book, thinking what was everyone raving about, until it suddenly reached right out of the page and broke my heart. It can still make me cry thinking about it.

It's a book I've read many times. It never affected me in quite such an emotional way but it's a great, great read.

I could be wrong but I don't think Joe Haldeman has ever really topped it.

Oh come on, why no X-Wing fighter?

It's only a one-man ship, but it's reliable and you could park it outside Sainsbury's.

Its a type of ship. These are all individual ships.
