There was an article in The Times this morning criticising the idea.

The new rules will also allow anyone to put the whole of their annual salary, up to a maximum of £215,000, into a pension fund.

This will be great for Gordon Brown, PM. A few years of encouraging people to stuff their pension full of cash, then he starts up a 'pension windfall tax' which allows him to suck out as much money as he wants, and the suckees will have no choice since the money they put into their pension is stuck there.
