Dutch Election Results

Recommended Posts

out of 150 seats:

VVD 31 (right wing anti immigration right wing liberals)

PvdA 30 (dutch labour party)

PVV 24 (geert wilders up from 9 seats)

Christian Democrats 21 (The old bosses, they did have 41 seats)

Socialists 15 (did have 25 seats)

The Dutch also poll their schoolchildren and count the vote as the school result (it doesn't count towards the official result) Wilders party came first, with the Green parties and the Pirate party doing well.

There you have it. Future of Holland? Green Nazi Pirates...

From what I understand, VVD are seen as outright winners to form a coalition. Even though PvDA got just one less seat, seems there's no need to form with them.

More likely it will be with PVV and a few others such as the greens.

VVD apparently is similar to Conservatives.

More of Europe shifting to the right thanks to the new-lefties screwing up.

I'm surprised Lehman, HSBC, RBS, AIG and Lloyds are all new-lefties.

You learn something new every day.

Yeah the trouble is that shift to the right is also pouring support into the far right and this is before the decade of austerity even starts. Those kids voting PVV will be adults voting PVV and nothing that is going to happen in the near future is going to encourage any of them to ease off and play nice, quite the opposite when you look at peak oil, pensions crisis, immigration, terrorism, unemployment, debt etc

I still put 50/50 odds on seeing concentration camps or another Srebrenica in Europe before the decade is out.

Yeah some bad things could come out of it.

What annoys me in Europe is how the centre-left have failed and now the shift is to the right. If they had addressed some of the concerns of the pissed off, this would not have happened.

Someone mentioned to me recently that he hates Wilders but said he can't disagree with everything he says. For example, the disproportionately high number of Moroccon criminals. Seems to be a cultural problem because many of them are several generations old, not just fresh off the boat.

I always thought of Wilders being the opposite of the Far Right, the far right being fundamentalist islam.

Im always amazed at how little support there is for the 'far right' in this country, given white working class resentment of the LibLabCon metropolitan elite running things - Le Pen got over 5.5 million votes when he faced ChIraq, the BNP got about a tenth of that in our last election and it was still something like a 100% increase and considered a great sucess (for the BNP, anyway)
