Stephen Alanbritas - Federation Of Small Businesses

Recommended Posts

Mr Stephen Alanbritas from the Federation of Small Businesses was just interviewed on BBC News regarding the Federations take on possible CGT changes.

At first he talked about small businesses and their needs. Then he lightly touched on housing, aha, I thought, this joker has some Buy to Lets.

Then he really went for it "Many small businessmen have two or three Buy to Let properties and if they have to pay CGT, they won't have so much money to invest in their businesses".

So would he rather CGT was cut to 0% and instead levied on business rates and corporation tax?

Surely he meant to say in other properties?

Why work when house prices only ever go up?

I must say that I got the impression he was more interested in BTLs than small businesses.

Well that just tells you all you need to know about business in modern Britain, who can compete with a state sponsored ponzi scheme when it comes to returns? It was the same in the Weimar Republic.

"Businessmen began to abandon their legitimate occupations to speculate in stocks and in goods. Thousands of small businessmen tried to eke out a living by speculating in fabrics, shoes, meat, soap, clothing--in any produce they could obtain. Each fall in the mark brought a rush to the shops. People bought dozens of hats or sweaters." -- The Nightmare German Inflation
