Centrica-surprise Rise Talk Of Takeover?

Recommended Posts

Centrica has been doing badly all year round and I was sorely tempted at times to sell. I bought them at around 240 last year mainly on the premise that a pipeline was being built from around the Jakarta area and Thialand if memory serves me right. This pipeline would has been completed around 2009. It would have provided the UK with cheaper gas, liquid gas.

Now after the Tsunami I noticed a fall in the price and I was tempted to sell. But I always ignore temptations like this. I think to myself it is just doubt, stick to the rule 'buy cheap sell high'. So when I looked at my portfollio its always Centrica that is dragging its heels.

Then today I check and Centrica went as high as 260. What is going on, I thought, checked their company news...nothing.

It turns out that based on a rumour about about contracts a few weeks ago. Investors are thinking that it is due a takeover.

Is it the silly season, are the bosses away on holiday so the junior traders are having a (conspiracy theory trip).

Either way I'm happy Centrica is rising. But I bought it as a long time share, not like some of my other stuff that I get rid off every few months.

So I'm a bit suspicious
