De La Rue Sees Banknote Volumes Steady This Year

Recommended Posts

Reporting its results for the year ended March 27, De La Rue said pretax profit was up 1% from last year's GBP96.1 million, while operating profit from continuing operations and before exceptional items was up 13% at GBP109.2 million from GBP96.5 million. Revenue grew 12% to GBP561.1 million from GBP502.4 million, boosted by a GBP27 million gain from a weaker pound against the euro and dollar. Chairman Nicholas Brookes said the results "demonstrate De La Rue's resilience in the uncertain economic environment." He said, that, as previously flagged, the company expects banknote volumes to remain at similar levels this year, with a greater weighting toward the second half, and that the strong margin mix in currency in fiscal 2010 will not be repeated but should be offset by productivity gains, cost reductions and improved trading in other parts of the business.

Also news of share buyback from Camelot sale and efforts to reduce the pension deficit.
