Home Owners In The Village Of Sipson To Keep Their Houses

Recommended Posts

http://www.telegraph...-withdrawn.html

As I've said before, you never really own a house even if it's 100% paid for, but at least the residents of Sipson will be keeping theirs.

I enjoyed the bit at the bottom of the article - seems a bit 'austerical' and very good value! :P

"Meanwhile, a £150 expansion of Bristol airport – too owned by BAA – will go ahead after it was given local council approval on Monday. The terminal will be extended and capacity increased from five to six million passengers to 10 million by 2019/20."

Yep, ****** off BAA and Labour, your 3rd runway dream is over

God, it's like waking up from some awful, awful nightmare isn't it?

Sure, we've woken to find we have a stinking hangover, and a dozen apology letters to write, but at least the nightmare is over now :)

Some how i think the cons and libs realize that the peak oil situation is well and truly on the horizon, good luck to them airports wishing on a star that 10 million people and airlines will be flying around 2020, thats unless we manage to magic up some magic oil.

How do our leaders tell the sheep we are all royally screwed? They dont, because they dont know how to tell it to you.

I like the picture best. A very odd looking polar bear with shield bearing riot police behind :)

You've got to watch out for those damned polar bears, dangerous beasts, especially near an airport.

Perhaps, although I think it's just a reversal of a cynical attempt by Mandelson to instigate a major construction project that would get thousands off the unemployment register. Never mind that thousands would be forced to move out of their homes.

Who needs the transport infrastructure to improve when it works so well already and there NIMBYs with votes to take care of. I suspect this will turn out to be expensive in the long run, but then it's not as if anyone cares about that.

With all the cost involved in trying to push the runway through, delays, consultants, etc, it'd have been cheaper if, right from the start, they'd said "Look, we're building this runway .... and looking at the surrounding area we figure we can rebuild your entire village from scratch 3 miles to the side. Once it's built, you can all move sideways a bit ... and we'll demolish this village".

Problem sorted.

It might not be just the people in the village whose votes the politicians wanted. Perhaps they will close one of the existing runways next :-)
