Bloody hell those Japanese blokes manage it again, could possibly be a con though as the 'robot' is big enough to fit a whole person inside.

Musians and buskers ought to be quaking in their boots.

More at me blog link below.

I remember somebody saying oh well robots are not as good as humans are robots are only good at specialised tasks i.e. a robot arm or something therefore humans are and still will always be needed for the time being. But as robots become more athopamorphic surely the old get out plan that robots are highly specialised and therefore are not as flexible as humans diminishes over time?

In that robots can do things humans can do exactly = uber unemployment.

It also poses problems of Injin about being unable to oppress forever as autoguns and nuclear powered terminators will keep the peace and be able to oppress people cheaply and effectively.

Why should this be a problem?

More stuff done without anyone needing to put in effort to do it.

QE with a citizens wage to prevent western deflation could be the "cure" for automation?

Is there someone inside?

Beethoven wrote a version (maybe the original version) of Wellington's Victory for Panharmonicon. Unfortunately it was in the Industrial museum in Stuttgart and circa 1942 I think we may have, er, blown it up. Here are the two surviving photos, the bottom pic shows how the music was encoded via pins on barrels (it even looks a bit like MIDI in a DAW). Beethoven wouldn't have minded, he was on the whole anti-tyrant. Won't let me link the pics but see here: http://www.pianola.org/history/history_orchestrions.cfm

That's pretty impressive. It's a genuine robot, and it's playing a violin as well as a robot possibly could. The robot moves like a human too. Very advanced compared to anything else I've seen.

I'm very surprised robots aren't already being used in warfare. It must be a problem with powering them, or maybe it's just a lot cheaper to use expendable human beings.
