Universal Bad News Great News For Stocks

Recommended Posts

FTSE 100( FTSE: ^FTSE / ISIN GB0001383545 )

Index Value: 5,323.10

Trade Time: 8:38am

Change: 60.56 (1.15%)

Very few down days for quite some time now. If you add up the negative fundamentals:

1. Cuts about to become a reality

2. Rising taxes including crucial CGT (Large impact on share sales)

3. Rightmove report on falling London house price expectations

4. Highest unemployment since 1994

5. Rising levels of personal bankruptcy and record numbers taking debt advice from CAB

6. Mervs letter to George

7. The Eurozone in freefall (our chief export target)

they must pale in significance compared with the "good" news:

1. It could be worse (it could?).

2. The Knicker Press's delight in further inflation and unaffordability in housing (lingering ghost of Gordon's no more boom and bust ion house prices--only boom).

3. Delusional hope that stocks will soar forever offsetting derisory IR on savings.

4. Lottery mentality

the market is 10% lower than 2 weeks ago, were you expecting it to change the habit of a lifetime and fall to zero in a straight line overnight, i think you might be slightly dissapointed if you keep waiting for that phenomenom to happen?
