During Each Rate-rising Cycle There Tends To Be

Recommended Posts

MoneyWeek, from the editor MSW;

About halfway through each rate-rising cycle, there tends to be a cut or two. In 1978, for example, there were two cuts; in 1979 there was one; in 1984 there were two; and in 1996 there was s total of three. But all were fast followed by further hikes. I wonder how many cuts there'll be this time around before the hikes start again. Perhaps just the one?

Liken it to fishing.

The fish have been biting for the past few years, however they have changed their feeding patterns, the fisherman has just thrown in a couple of handfulls of groundbait to attract them back before pulling out the big one. And this big one will not be the one that got away.
