' Do you think house prices will fall significantly over the next few years?

No 79%

Yes 21%

Sample: 2437 '

Methinks we need to do a bit more work on this one...

Seriously, that's about the proportion of house-ownership in the country.

Given a poll which might affect market confidence, and in turn the price of their asset, most people are going to talk it up.  The poll might as well be: are you long one or more houses?

Interestingly, there is another poll on the same page which asks "Do you have a fixed or variable rate mortgage?"

The number of people who have answered this is about 3500, whereas the number of people who have answered

"Do you think house prices will fall significantly over the next few years?"

Is only about 2500. So that means there are at least 1000 people who own a home, and were willing to answer a question on interest rates, but not on house prices. I wonder what that 1000 people think?
