Portsmouth Faces Wind-Up Petition

Recommended Posts

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8434987.stm

Portsmouth Football Club has been issued with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue & Customs, the BBC has learned.

It's about house prices after all...

Dubai businessman Suleiman al-Fahim bought the club in August, having initially agreed a deal in May.

But after questions were raised about Mr al-Fahim's finances, he then sold on a 90% stake in the club to Saudi property tycoon Ali al-Faraj.

Despite promises of significant investment from its new owner, the club remains in financial difficulties.

I have to live in Portsmouth - not by choice, but rather necessity (it is a very long story).

To hear that that vile X-Factoresque `talk topic` that is Portsmouth FC is being wound up is music to my ears. I can hear muppets like John Westwood crying into his beer now!

I mean, for God`s sake - is this really what Portsmouth`s got going for it?

Not everyone in Portsmouth is a tosser or chav. It has some quite nice areas, as well as the bad!

Southsea, Eastney and Milton are not too bad - the rest is sh1t! ;)

Westwood represents the worst of the worst (he doesn`t live in Portsmouth btw). Apparently he likes hurling racial abuse at the opposition`s players. What a nice guy! <_<

I agree; I've just bought in Milton. Although a lot of careless car vandalism in Southsea down the Victorian streets. I don't know who Westwood is?

Westwood is apparently `Mr Portsmouth FC` or some nonsense like that. Represents the chavdom of Portsmouth FC. I just wish the southern half of Portsmouth could be removed from the northern (cruddy) bits and relocated to somewhere nice along the coast. Areas like Portsea, Buckland, Somers Town etc are really pockets of long-term benefit dependency and deprivation; really grotty and depressing.

Spend most of my time in Southsea these days ;)

Have to break self imposed ban from the manic depressives on this site to respond to this blatant lie. I've had the extreme misfortune of living in PO2 , PO5 and PO7 - All have been shit holes (including Waterlooville which isn't even really Portsmouth!)

If a certain local employer stops paying reasonable money for very little I'll be out of here in a second. There are no nice places in Portsmouth.

I don`t blame you. Of course, some areas are really shit, but I`ve managed to find some pretty small niches to survive in (a kind of social bomb shelter as it were). PO2 is the ultimate shithole near to Buckland.

I am in general agreement with you re.Portsmouth though. ;)
