We are planning to move to Frimley area, have been interested in one 4-bed house at Heathside area, nearly Old Bisley Road.

Any comment about Heathside area, nice place to move in? We are aware that there are massive “council estate” like houses in Heathside area, i.e. around Cumberland Load. Any local knowledge about this area?

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Heatherside?

Check traffic in the morning before you move there - you might get a shock (depends where you live now)

Buckers

Thanks for prompt responce.

I commute to Knaphill for work. Not sure it is problem and will be there early morning to see how bad/congested.

BTW, apart from traffic, any pro or con moving in Heathside? How is it compared with rest part of Frimley? Thanks a lot.

I know the area pretty well - you should be able to get to Knaphill pretty quickly. leaving at 8am i would anticipate you being there by 8:30 latest. You would likely go via the 'red road'.

Heatherside is a very large estate but not rough as far as i know. Has a set of shops in it aswell. Personally i would choose to live in frimley green or closer to camberley ont he middle/lower/upper gordon roads.

I would rent frst if you had a choice. Rent in frimley green or camberley and see if you like the area. Heatherside is a generic housing estate with few connections.

Where are you moving from?

As stated, you mean heatherside. It's an alright place, but it's not been without it's problems, albeit it's now a lot better than it used to be. Getting to knaphill in the morning shouldn't be a problem, but in general the traffic around frimley/camberley in the morning is a complete nightmare. It seems that no-one will allow little timmy or tommy to walk to school, so you get a lot of plebs clogging up the roads and the hospital doesn't help.

We presently live in Tolworth.

Yeah, I do mean Heatherside (sorry, Heathside was wrongly spelled). Some recent built private estate near Old Bisley road/Edgemoor road draws our interest . We like the lovely woods at doorstep!

A bit concern about 1960-70s developed estate around Cumberland Road? Are they ex-council house or privated developed at the time of built? Please comment. We have walked down Heatherside community centre over weekend. It seems to be OK place as per your advise.

Thanks for valuable info.

I can't help with cumberland road query. There aren't any large areas of proper council much has been privately bought in this area.

Perhaps I can help..... :)

I bought my first property in Dawsmere Close (GU15 1ST) just off Inglewood Avenue, back in about 1998/99. It was a 2 bedroom flat, part of a development of 48 flats spead between 4 3-storey buildings.

As far as I recall most were privately owned, although there did seem to be a handful of housing association tenants. Perhaps 5 or 6 out of 48.

It's not a bad place, but, as others have mentioned, not without it's minor problems. Kids hanging about by the shops. More cars than there are parking spaces to put them. Fairly dull houses, constructed during the time that design forgot - 1970's/80's. But other than that I can't recall anything major. I moved away about 5 or 6 years ago, so in fairness things could've changed a bit.

If you have any specific questions please ask and I'll do my best to answer if i can.

Its quite scary, but I grew up on Heatherside ('78 to 90), over in Shildon Close......

I don't think there are any council houses on Heatherside - certainly none that I was aware of. Most of the housing stock is late 60s, to the old Parker Morris standards. They may be bland boxes, but its an effective use of a box shape. Bedrooms are usable sizes and they all seem to be solidly constructed. The area over by Cheylsmore drive is typical late 80s small garden stud internal walls from what I remember. There's some even newer build by Theobalds way, but I don't know about them.

If you want to get to Knaphill, deepcut road to Gapemouth road, then Queens road by Bisley. Its pretty clear of traffic - I actually live in Frimley now, and work in Woking, and theres not much traffic down to Bisley from Frimley Green.

It looks like your interested in the bit by Theobalds way - thats not the bit I remember! After my time, it all used to be the grounds of Brompton hospitol when I was there. However your nearest schools are all within walking distance - I must have spent the ten years walking up and down the Old Bisley Road :)

Growing up there was great till you get to about 14-15, then you realise that you truely are out in the boonies. A couple of weeks ago my brother was down from the smoke and went him and our respective other halves back to heatherside to show them where we grew up. They really liked it - the big open playing fields, the woods and sense of quiet. Me and my brother started twitching uncontrollably when respective other halves started suggesting we move there......

My ex-girlfriend used to live in Heatherside, in fact I think she still does, albeit in one of the nicer closes. It's not too bad but there are some pretty ugly houses. Lightwater is much nicer if you can afford it and closer to Knaphill for the commute. I used to live there as a kid.

Yep, I'd definitely prefer to be in Lightwater than Heatherside!

I strongly suspect it isn't equal in price terms though....

Woah, spooky, just took a look, and my parents' old BTL is up for sale in Lightwater hehe http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-13316343.html?minPrice=200000&minBedrooms=2&pageNumber=4&fromSummary=true&backToListURL=%2Fproperty-for-sale%2FLightwater.html%3FminPrice%3D200000%26minBedrooms%3D2%26index%3D30

Any reason why Lightwater is better than Heatheside? Other than getting out of Lightwater might be easier than heatherside?

Lightwater has prettier, more varied houses, a nicer parade of village shops, easier access to both the A322 and the M3, as well as a reasonably sized mini-supermarket. It also has a half decent church and a slightly older and richer community, unless a lot has changed since last I was there.

Exactly that! And it hasn't changed much over the last 10-15 years.
