shug
People who are unable to be responsible over debt should be taxed to pay for this, not have those responsible with their cash have to bail them out. This tax should be a percentage of their outstanding debt and go towards paying the gov for bailing them out with their halfwit schemes, creating national debt ultimately caused by those irresponsible people who cannot live within their means and splurge on credit cards, overextend themselves with 100x salary mortgages and loans etc... For every pound someone is in debt by, 17.5% tax is charged. Might force many to be more prudent in future and lessen the risk of gov debt spiraling out of control which it is doing right now. You totally misunderstand. This is debt enslavement BY DESIGN. The gov and the banksters have cynically exploited the ignorance, stupidity and greed of people. If you want to see where we are heading, look at Iceland 15 years ago, Iceland was per capita one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. Today, the middle class has been decimated. People have lost their homes, businesses, savings and pensions and the Icelandic people are in debt to foreign banks for billions for loans denominated in foreign currency. Their debt burden is so huge, they will never be able to service it in their own devalued icelandic Krona because their currency has been decimated This economic crisis is not an accident. It is a full blown war against the people fought with economic weapons of mass destruction. The bankers and the political elite are the people who should be in the frame, not the people, even if many of them have behaved stupidly and recklessly. It is the bankers and supine corrupt government who made all this possible.

May well be, but what is very odd, and hearing on the radio this morning, Iceland is one the top three countries to live in!

Orsino
May well be, but what is very odd, and hearing on the radio this morning, Iceland is one the top three countries to live in! I'm glad someone else heard that. I though I'd imagined it. Ridiculous and it just goes to show what nonsense these surveys are. I believe Norway is supposed to be the 'best' place to live, but that's like saying the 'best' meal is a green salad (and in Oslo one of those will cost you £10). shug
You don't much about what going on in the world at all do you? Only that there is not a 'Debt Tax'. Punish those who overspend - regardless.
