Anyone work out how the cars fit behind the houses, also exhaust gases, noise etc?.

Looks very bold in design

at the end of each row is a gap in the centre between the houses, like a single lane running the length of the row.

estate looks like hell on earth, only thing that can improve it is a huge gas explosion.

It's an interesting re-use of existing housing stock.

They took rows of northern terraces and then re-engineered them to accommodate the bane of the late 20th and early 21st century; cars. In one way, this is fine; re-use is better than demolition which is the fate of a lot of this type of housing under Prescott's scorched earth policy in the north.

But they also added what urbansplash would call architectural flair and a lot of people might know as hideously large and unnecessary cost.

As for exhaust fumes - the building regs are so strict on these that they wouldn't have come close to being built without this having been addressed ad nauseum.

I to think it's a good re-use of housing stock, I'm not sure about the ease of parking in the back, but I assume it is fine.

I'm not sure of the cost though...

ridiculous layout. Kithcen on the 2nd Floor? is that because everyone wants to lug their shopping up two flights of stairs? There's a gap between the 1st and 2nd floor so any cooking smells will permeate both floors. And then once you've actually cooked your meal, carrying it downstairs without dropping it will also catch a few people out.

What is it with architects? Why don't they ever think about basic practicalities? Function first, Form will follow.

edit: typo

yes, in a row of 10, all 10 cars will need to be driven in and out at the same, agreed time. great for social harmonisation., course your car cant be more than 10ft long to match the house width.
