Millions March On Washington?

"We don't want universal healthcare! What do we want?"

Doh!

We want to pay three times the percentage of GDP as the UK does on healthcare but still leave one in five people uninsured.

We don't like government bureaucrats running healthcare - but are happy for insurance company bureaucrats to do so

When we have a heart attack we want to have time to check we have enough funds in our bank accounts to make the co-payment (policy excess) or if we don't have insurance we need to make sure we have our credit card with us

We think we live in a civilised country where children don't have an entitlement to free health care in every state

We love strangling businesses by making them provide health insurance and think its wonderful if we lose our job and thus our family insurance cover at the same time

We love filling out loads of forms and calling insurance company call centres every time we want treatment

We love having our ERs full of uninsured people with minor illnesses who have no other option

We don't want Communist style government run healthcare like those Marxist Brits

We are just crazy!

You've gotta hand it to the Yanks

When they don't like something governmnet does, they don't sit on their hands like the British

2 million people!

That's pretty impressive

Problem is most of them have no clue what Obamas plan actually is. They just know it's "liberal" so they don't want it. Feckin clueless redneck b@stards most of em. I am living in the south of the US at the moment and the ignorance even surprises me.

That's precisely how it has been designed to be and how they want it to stay

If there were 2 million well educated people who actually understand what the fekk is going on marching on DC, then they really would have a problem

Still, at least they got off their fat backsides

Wonder if any of them collapsed and had no insurance? That would be ironic.

Having lived in the US going on ten years I shouldn't be surprised by much but always am. Most folk can't name the 50 states but ask them to tell you the ins and outs of their insurance and they are feckin experts. How much co-pay, what %, when the co-pay runs out and how much the drug bill is for the rest of the year. Me? I have tried to figure mine out but end up giving up and paying most doctors visits out of my own pocket. The whole thing would confuse Steven Hawkins. Maybe I really am as thick as a surgical boot as me old Dad once said to me.

weren't there 1-2m people on the 2003 anti war march in London?

yep. and where did it get them?

peaceful protest is for mugs like the g20 protesters who think that getting battered by tooled up coppers will turn them into Gandhi - whereas the truth is that those in charge are just laughing at them and ignoring them. IMO they would have every right to start turning up protests in crash helmets with milk bottles full of petrol next time around.

I think I spotted just one black person in the crowd shots! Perhaps the uninsured members of the population should organise a counter "Well, actually a fair few of us do welcome it" march.

It never ceases to amaze me how many times liberals go to the "stupid redneck" well anytime someone disagrees with a liberal agenda. First of all, if you look for it you'll find plenty of ignorance on both sides of any political argument. That's not hard to do. But to label 2 million people this way that have shown up to demonstrate to the government their disapproval to where their country is headed... that is just ridiculous. Wise up because you're turning your back and dismissing the intelligence, determination, and concern of a vastly growing population in this country.

Furthermore, enough with the hatred, against anyone. Why is it in this country we have to hate some group? Can't hate blacks anymore, can’t hate Hispanics. Wait... I know. Hate the rednecks! I have personally had it with hateful, hurtful labels such as this and its time we move on FROM ALL OF IT. I wouldn't call you stupid, tomwatkins, but I would call you ignorant.

And didn't the mainstream media report there were only 10,000 or so....?

I was on that march - and 10,000 people it was not, judging by the photos I have kept probably nearer a miilion - and as someone said got us no where - and the march was proved right

But, you dont se it in mainstream media that the marchers were right, and the mis represented the numbers - but heres a real key issue, ive had Sky news on since i got up half hour ago, and still havent seen the american march covered yet - i wonder why?..........

Welcome to the board.

I always chuckle when British people make the blanket statement that Americans are dumb stupid ignorant people. It reminds me of that movie A Fish Called Wanda when the Otto character played by Kevin Kline tells John Cleese what a stuck up, arrogant race us Brits are.

Take a trip into any town in the UK and you'l quickly see the notion that British people are a nation of thinking, intelligent people is pretty ludicrous.

The really big difference in America is that the concept of liberty and self responsibility is more ingrained. The British by contrast are institutionally socialist and that includes much of the professional middle class too.

As for Obama...........

What a huge damp squib he has turned out to be. I find it all mildly amusing because I told everyone that nothing would really change under Obama and the honeymoon period would be short. He was hugely hyped by the liberal media in the UK and much of Europe. All that bull$hit about 'change' and 'hope' What a load of old flannel.

As Pete Townsend said

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

Obama = more big government corporatism ENDOF

Bush Mk3 with dark skin

I hope Americans wke up quickly and reject Obama's socialist agenda. America really is the last hope for mankind

Be fair. He's pretty opposite Bush on the CIA and FBI torture stuff.

He isn't tied to the oil industry lobby like Bush was so 'green' agenda will move a long way, although not as far as the rest of the world would like!

Clinton, the last Democratic president tried to bring changes to health care but it was massively watered down. Too many people in the drug and insurance industry are pulling Rep and even some Dem senator strings.

It could be a tipping point, in only his first year! The Rep and all anti - 'liberal' lot are desperate to kick helathcare reform into the long grass not because it's the right thing to do, but purely to take down the 'jumped-up N...' a peg or too. (Their words not mine).

Millions of Americans are marching in Washington because they are morons.

Obama is worse than Bush in that he doesn't have a mandate. At least with W you could hazard a guess to what was coming next.

Thinking your barking up the wrong tree three, whilst i agree with most of your post, America is the squibb of mankind, without any shadow of doubt.

Absolute nonsense

Have you ever actually travelled in America or spent more than a cople weeks on holiday there? What is your basis for such a sweeping statement?

Ahem

Are you talking about the people or the Government? I would say that those in government have no clue as to what Obama's plan is. The lobbyists write the legislation, the Congress doesn't bother to read it, the President signs it and then a new army of bureaucrats is hired to try to make sense of it, while the patients die on the stretcher. SO is this what you define as good governance?

Don't blame the people in this scenario.

The fact is that government is absolutely, totally out of control and MUST be rolled back by at least 50% in size.

This is what the American people must accomplish.

1980 : 300 lobbyists.

2009: 35000 lobbists.

Need we say more?
