Thanks for all the advice over the last 2 years. This site has been a constant source of information, inspiration and entertainment. Some of you are very clever.

I'm off becasue I have bought a house now & need to get on with stuff. At the end of the day no-one knows what is around the next corner. But may there be sunshine and happiness round yours- never forget that life is so much more than bricks and mortar.

Au revoir

<EDIT: taken out the stuff that rubbed. Sorry>

Thanks for all the advice over the last 2 years. This site has been a constant source of information, inspiration and entertainment as my family negotiated the turbulent business of selling a house in 2007, renting, and recently finally buying another house.

Some of you are very clever. Some of you are mad as a bag of cut snakes. Some of you are angry and disillusioned with the unfairness of society (but always was it thus, in one way or another). I'm none of those things but still enjoyed this site plenty.

I'm off becasue I have played my final move and this site has no more to teach me at present. I think it is pretty obvious now that any sort of crash has been avoided, and while I personally don't expect large rises in house prices soon, neither do any more drops look likely. If my friend or younger sister asked me for advice, and their life seemed stable, I would not hesitate to advise them now to buy a sound house in a good location, fixing the mortgage payments for many years because interest rate and wage rises will be the next story as economic growth takes root. Sorry if you wish for different, but that is the way I see it- more clearly now than at any time over the past 2 years.

At the end of the day no-one knows what is around the next corner. But may there be sunshine and happiness round yours- never forget that life is so much more than bricks and mortar.

Au revoir

i assume you realise that it's possible to left-click on your name and then left-click again on 'Find Member's Posts'. I just did that now, and [based on a very quick scan] it looks to me as if, in the two years, you've consistently ramped, you ramped house prices ['supply and demand, innit?'] upwards at every step of their 20%+ fall from peak, so it can hardly be surprising that you're feeling, well, bullish now?

thanks for the contributions anyway.

Good luck

Hope you got a good deal and enjoy your new home and family life....I agree with you about your sentiments..

HPC is over give or take 5% either way for the next 24 months or so!

We're actually recruiting again at our place of work!! First time since July 08!!!

ROLL ON 2010 - the year of recovery

I am coming to the same conclusion, but only because its a rigged casino game.

Let's add zeros to all bank notes.

But in all seriousness, I am seeing firms recruiting and we are now pushing our rates up.

I'm off becasue I have bought a house now & need to get on with stuff.

Like inviting friends around for clandestine evening dinners and discussing house prices hoping others gasp in wide eyed admiration over how much your house has gone . You go and enjoy your house you great, big giant of a man. Go out and roar at world in pride.
