Charlie Croker's Search For Employment

Recommended Posts

Came across this blog via HPC a few months ago, and it's been mentioned a couple of times since.

Anyway, logged in this morning and it looks very much like he's finally got there!

Good man.

I have been following this through out the summer too and I am genuinely chuffed that he got the job. His attitude to creating opportunities is pretty inspiring....don't see a link to congratulate him?

Good man.

Good news for Charlie - Well done!

Wonder if this is as a result of the scrappage scheme?

Real people getting real jobs, maybe the recession really is over after all...

Yes, thats the thing...

...the car scrappage scheme will finish...

...interest rates will go up...

...taxes will go up...

...how many Fords will he be able to sell then?:(

(Edit: spellung)

Well done to the man, and I hope the job does turn out to be real ... in the sense that it's not another layer of an unsustainable, scrappage-supported debt pyramid (which I suspect the car trade to be).

But good on him regardless.

Good man.

I'm very pleased for this Michael Caine character - can you now stop pasting links as he has no literary ability and no connection to HPC.

awwww bless him. I dont know if I could be excited about a job selling cars, but Im glad hes happy.

Fair comment JS, but I guess it's all a matter of perspective. After four months on £60 JSA I should think anything is pretty exciting! :D

I think you'd be surprised how much a dealer can make on 2nd hand cars, and how little they make selling some new ones ;)

Quite. My mate was a car salesman in a Ford garage and he said the only reason they sold new ones was because it kept a good flow of second hand trade-ins coming through the door. Caused the garage real problems when they had 3 months without a new car sale earlier in the year, as they had to try and replenish second hand stock at auction. My mate lost his job and hasn't found another one yet.

Oh, is it an Old Boys' Club here then?

"Only us and ours"?

I thought that's how the Govt worked and everybody was against that system.

I'm happy to views from any quarter where there's merit. As I've noted before online diaries aka blogging are merely a form of vanity publishing - which just goes to show that not all technological change is an advance. Herberts such as Charlie Croker would have never seen the light of day were there editorial control - not all democracy is good.

I'm curious. Given how many people (both on here and who've commented on the blog directly, myself included) clearly like and enjoy it, what is it that makes you feel you're judge and jury on what's good and what's not?
