Dave Spart
Link Alan Davies 'takes 25% pay cut' Jonathan Creek actor Alan Davies has said he has taken a pay cut for a new episode of the BBC One drama. During a Twitter conversation on pay, the 43-year-old wrote: "Just had a 25% pay cut on Jonathan Creek. The BBC are 'driving down talent costs'!" Answering a question from a journalist, he later confirmed the claim and also said the show's design budget had been cut by "more than half". A BBC spokesman said the corporation did not comment on individual salaries. When the journalist asked Davies if he was worried about the budget cuts, the actor replied: "Yes, it does worry me, and absolutely it will effect [sic] the show." But the BBC denied the show's budget had been cut by as much as Davies claimed. "It's absolutely not true the design budget has been cut by more than half," the spokesman said. "We are making efficiencies on this show just as on many others but it is not to the level that has been suggested," he added. Filming is due to begin on the 90-minute special episode later this month and is scheduled to air next Easter. In June, the BBC warned stars including Bruce Forsyth and Sir Terry Wogan to expect their salaries to be cut when their contracts were renewed as part of the corporation's plan to save money. Director general Mark Thompson added that, in future, the BBC would disclose the total amount spent on talent as a whole, but would not reveal individual star salaries. Three Pint Princess 2
Must be less people watching the BBC so their income goes down.
Saberu
Jonathan Creek is still going? Should have ended years ago around the time I stopped watching it. It's good watching but there is only so many plots you can come up with for investigation.
