Does This Trick Sound Familiar?

We should in-source Chinese/Indian school teachers. The kids might pick up a bit of Chinese/Indian which should come in handy.

Yep. If only ungrateful British workers were prepared to slave away for a couple of dollar a day we'd be beating 'em pesky Chinese.

That sort of thing must be opposed if it ever came near here. Let us make sure that only the wealthy can obtain decent education for their children now that the state system is finally too broken to provide it with any reliability.

It might be that 20-odd percent of children leave schools barely literate, but the overriding concern is surely that teachers be well paid. After all, we must think of the children.

I am not blaming the teachers, but any way of fixing the failing education system in the UK must be worth trying.

Depends actually , I made a big discovery that South Koreans in retail often earn 2000-2500 krw per hour thats ONE POUND.

In HK where I am sat currently min wage can be about 15$-20$ an hour (there is no floor actually) which is about one pound fifty , and again they have a very high standard of living.

However South Korea / HK has a lower cost (yet higher standard ) of living , part of the reason we NEED higher wages in the UK is because of all the higher taxes.

Again the burger principle.

HK burger needs:

Wages (0% NIC , 0% income tax)

ingredients (0% VAT )

corporation tax (16%)

business property rental

UK burger needs

Wages + NIC (12.8% + 11.8%) + income tax (20%)

ingredients (17.5% vat)

corporation tax (30%)

business property rental

Hence its like 10 departments in one company each adding their margin , it makes the price of one item going through the chain ridiculous , and thus it is NOT a like for like comparative when you say have people work for less money, South Korea yet somehow manages to have lower wages (though they do work harder) and higher std of living.

Probably because the South Korean government isn't tax crazy , ANY problem in the UK the solution is yet another tax, Seoul was and is grid locked , so they build more and more metro lines there are so many metro lines in Seoul they ran out of colours and the map has to be in microprint there are so man stations. In the UK London is grid locked , lets see lets tax the hell out of people some more...

This leads to you demanding higher wages.... etc and the cycle continues you get paid more but generally pay more of it in taxes.

Well put. At the centre of the high cost of living lies the state machine with it's ridiculous mission to operate in every part of peoples lives.
