From another thread (about slugs of all things).

I can't stand centipedes.

It even goes into phobia territory. Yes. They're that bad.

What are you scared of?

Guest Parry aka GOD

Plastic people. Humourless, patronising, delusional sense of the superior to maintain their whatever positions, company men and bitches.

Used to tolerate them, then used to bark back. Now just knock them clean out. Don't even bother with words.

I am going to bake you a cake - with a file in it -so you can break out of jail. ;)

I envy you your freedom of 'expression': I have to make do with a fantasy of same, in Mitty-like fashion.

Spiders. Eeek. And it's that time of year again when they go a wandering....

Keep a jamjar of your window ledges and trap the little Bs and chuck them outa the door....or is that a no-no for you? :(

I do not have anything that I'm really phobic about. I am a bit nervous of heights, but I've still flown in planes, helicopters, balloons and gliders. I also put up my digital TV aerial on the roof of my bungalow (although I doubt I would have tackled it on a standard 2 storey house!)

My wife has a phobia of snakes and earthworms. It is so bad that if she sees a worm in the garden she won't even look at it and walks away until I've chucked it out of sight. She also doesn't like slugs/snails/maggots etc but isn't totally phobic about them. We occasionally have grass snakes in our back garden, as they like to have a swim in our pond in the Summer. We have some Koi/goldfish and I was concerned the snakes might attack some of the smaller fish. Whenever I saw them I would try to catch them (my plan was to release them to a big natural pond with abundant frogs about half a mile away). Anyway the snakes would always dive down and hide when they sensed my footsteps walking down the garden, because they knew I would chase them. They knew they were safe with my wife, as she would run back into the house as soon as she spotted them! She now doesn't go into the back garden alone (luckily we haven't spotted any in the front garden yet!)

Funnily enough she is okay with spiders, although she still makes me catch them if I'm in the house. I think the phobia must be something to do with not liking animals that don't have legs.

I can hardly bring myself to write the word but spideys terrorise me. The nasty, ugly ones as huge as my hand. I've been getting them in the house for most of the year rather than their more usual seasonal appearance.

At least I've got to the stage now where I can put a pint glass over them, I'd rather know where they are than have them running around. I put a tea towel over the glass so I can't see them and have to wait until someone comes round and remove them.

Does anyone know where they come from? I've had three in the bath in the past month and often find them on the stairs. Do they come in from outside when the windows are open overnight or something?

I am absolutely petrified of Thunderbirds. Or any of those style puppets. It's the way the mouth moves. It seriously scares me and I can't watch them for even a second without feeling a bit sick.

Spiders. Hate, loath and despise them. I think I got that from living in Australia where it was commonplace to have something akin to Shelob from Lord of the Rings living in the outside bog.

Not too keen on wasps either ever since one flew up my shorts leg and stung me on the peculiars at a BBQ in my local pub, I spent the day walking around looking like I had a space-hopper surgically attached to my crotch.

You're a hobbit?

I can cover 3 pint glasses with my hand.

I loathe dentists drills/cleaners/scrapers. Yuck.

Me too; I can't even watch Wile E Coyote fall off a cliff without getting a pain in my shins. Oh, and maggots and clowns.

I'm amazed at how many people have a fear of clowns!

I can understand heights, spiders, snakes etc. These have the potential to hurt you.... but clowns?

20 years ago I was very nervous of parked cars. Mainly because the bloody IRA kept hiding bombs in them!
