Rock star makes 'emergency trip' to DIY store

Concerns about a potential Armageddon has seen one musician make an emergency dash to a DIY store, it has been revealed.

Speaking to the Sun, Matt Bellamy - lead singer of rock band Muse - reveals that his anxieties about the possibility of the world coming to an end resulted in him going to a home improvement store to purchase an axe.

The frontman of the band - whose previous hits include Supermassive Black Hole and Time is Running Out - also indicates he went on a panic spree in his local food shop buying all 50 tins of baked beans.

"I read somewhere a seven-day blockade and the UK would run out of oil. Another seven days and we'd run out of food. That's why I bought the beans," Bellamy claims.

He adds that the trip to the home improvement store to buy the axe would allow him to chop firewood.

But the Muse man has not been the only musician spending time tackling DIY as Frankie Sanford, of girl group The Saturdays, recently revealed to the Sunday Mirror how she and her boyfriend - Dougie Poynter of McFly - spend the majority of their weekends in home improvement stores.

Building materials, bricks, cement and mortar, plus additional interior and exterior construction materials, including insulation, plasterboard and paving - from the DIY & home improvement store Wickes.

There's an interview in the Sun somewhere.

We didn''t cover this on HPC and I wasn't brave enough to post it in the main forum. Is it movable or irrelevant?

Why do these TFHs always buy tins of baked beans?

Why not garden peas, chile con carne, kidney beans, soup, pease pudding etc etc. etc. ? They all keep as they're all in tins.

Is there some sort of baked beans chic with these people.

Perhaps they hope to run a generator from the gas they produce and also to keep spirits up during the dark times, as everyone laughs at a fart.

Hang on , why is Wickes which I assume is a relatively serious DIY/Home improvements business including strange reports like this on its website?

Do they now think there are more tin foil hatters out there than there are people doing DIY on recently bought houses?

They probably have a point there. Soon we'll be getting specialist TFH marketing and adverts, and they'll start stocking panic rooms and nuclear bunkers in Homebase. There is quite a lot of cement and bricks needed for a nuclear bunker, so probably quite good business when the rest of the DIY sector isn't holding up.

Rock star in "out his face on drugs" scandal.

He's not known for drugs or even drinking for that matter.

He's been talking about the banking conspiracy and the police state for a long time. Starting to add elements to the songs.

One of our most talented guitarists and songwriters IMO.

There are plenty of people I'd listen first before the singer from Muse.

Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke did all this in 1982, even going as far as to move to Iceland.

Well he wasn't very prescient, was he? Or very bright, by the sounds of it. One power outage and all he'd have had was a load of rapidly thawing freezers.

I thought they were Bejam back then anyway?

But could they do it in an electro-mozart inspired fashion?

He was the very first tin-foil hatter. What could be more prescient than that?

Now his descendants are legion....

^ I was at that gig. :)

Matt Bellamy has always been a TFH nutter, he once cancelled an interview in the US because he thought an asteroid was likely to strike.

The new album is basically a complete TFH trip.. overall theme of oppressive government with songs like MKULTRA (reference to 1950's CIA mind control program), and even some things thrown in that HPC'ers might appreciate... a lyric from the first track comes to mind:

"It's time the fat cats had a heart attack"

Overall I'm much happier listening to a nutter singing about alien overlords behind the curtain than I am with most other modern music.

My understanding was consipracies were to be a theme for the next album so MB starting investigating various things, and stocked up on beans and an axe (to chop firewood) as he did get dragged in a bit, they interviewed him on 6 music, it all sounded very past tense.

I'll see if i can find the link.
