I'm a lot more concerned about Halal food preperation than I am a handfull of foxes.

A good point. Certain forms of ritualistic religious slaughter are totally unnecessary for food production yet are rarely seriously questioned. Surely as the superior species someone has said we are we should be banning this without delay? When it comes down to it, religious slaughter has absolutely no practical benefit, hunting at least controls animal numbers to some extent.

Looking at it another way, what might have happened if an actual stridently left-wing party had got in in 1997?

Cheap housing for all including mass council housing builds. This would have rendered tax credits unnecessary and stopped the stupidity of millions in housing benefit going to fat-arsed private landslords.

Regulation of the mortgage market that would have prevent maniac loans and the housing bubble.

ID cards and database state banned, CCTV growth restricted.

Near monopolies like tesco dealt with and co-ops and human scale business encouraged.

No attacks on jury trials, habeas corpus and other centuries old liberties.

Failed banks would have been left to flounder and ex-mutuals re-mutualised.

No British servicemen dead in US-led imperialist wars. No dead muslims at British hands so less reason for anti-UK terror.

We basically got fascism - an alliance of state power and corporate plutocrats.
