Edward Kennedy

Some very vocal people around (including me) so time to throw it open to the lurking majority.

Hell awaits IMHO.

Mods - a merge with the Dead Kennedys thread would be appreciated. And where is Bart anyway?

For internal consumption in the USA, Edward Kennedy was just the final chapter of a story, of a tragic dynasty. Obviously there was serious controversy surounding his life, but he did campaign a lot for social justice too, right up until the end.

From a British point of view, while he might not have openly supported the IRA, he supported those who did support it, so we have absolutely nothing to thank him for.

Obviously a deeply unpleasant fellow, but made far worse by the croaky-voiced "statesmanlike" "sincerity".

Indeed - he would have been flipping burgers if he hadn't been born with more personal advantages that one could even begin to imagine.

Such a laugh when hyprocritical socialists laud him and his ilk and then slag off the Tories for containing old Etonians.

Like John Hume? Yes, there's a terrorist for you.

You may have nothing to thank him for. Irish people have plenty to thank him for.

Not so much a plastic Irishman as a plastic explosive Irishman.

Good one.
