Lockerbie Bomber Megrahi 'may Live For Many More Months'

Recommended Posts

Dr Richard Simpson said that medical reports show there is “significant doubt†that Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi will die within the next three months.

The Labour MSP accused Kenny MacAskill, the Scottish justice minister, of failing to conduct sufficient checks before deciding to release the terminally-ill bomber last week.

This attack was echoed by the Tories, who said that the most recent medical consensus was Megrahi would live eight months, too long to be eligible for compassionate release.

The row broke out as Gordon Brown finally ended his silence on the controversy, but refused to say whether he agreed with Mr MacAskill's decision.

The Prime Minister stressed he had “no role†in the release and he was “angry and repulsed†at the hero's welcome that greeted Megrahi on his return to Libya.

A storm of international condemnation has met Mr MacAskill's ruling last week to release Megrahi, who is suffering from prostate cancer, on compassionate grounds.

Scottish Prison Service (SPS) guidelines suggest that inmates are only freed if they have less than three months to live.

However, Dr Simpson, who specialised in prostate disease research, said: “It is clear to me from the medical reports and the opinion of the specialists that Megrahi could live for many more months.

Just think of the oil and the fact that justice hasn't been called into disrepute with his conviction being quashed.

Successfully handled all round.

Gadaffy will obviously get him the best treatment money can buy, which will probably prolong his life for longer than if he'd been left to the NHS.

Added to which, if Megrahi does write his book spilling the beans as threatened, and is alive when it's published in considerably more than three months' time, the diplomatic incident will be just as big as if he had appealed, potentially.

Megrahi will probably be competing in Strictly Come Dancing within the year.

'And now, from Tripoli, dancing the freestyle samba, let's big it up for Bomber with the Beat..."

I think this is where something good may come of this release...he'll write a book and we may get more information on the whole incident.

It sounds like one of those books you might buy in WHSmith at the airport.

Coat, get, I'll, my.

Of course, nobody in the meejah pointed out that the celebrations over the release was because an innocent patsy was finally free not because he did a good job of mass-murdering westerners. Stupid meejah.

What if some Brit was banged up somewhere when everyone knew he/she was just a patsy. Wouldn't we be happy if they were freed at last?

Yes, funny how the Portuguese Police are painted as bumbling amateurs for not believing a British couple who said their daughter was abducted when they abandoned her to go on a night out.

Nicely done. Not only does some poor ******* in jail for the actions of others (looking at you, Iran) finally go free, but our government gives a nice two-finger saluted to the ******ing yanks who are all a bunch of two-faced terrorist sympathisers anyway.
