Property Ownership Mania Now Hard-coded Into Nation's Psyche?

Recommended Posts

A rather nice Scots lady who works in a shop not far from me, boy did she look at me as if I were bonkers when I gently questioned the wisdom of her daughter having just bought a house for quarter million (apparently a fair size, in Essex).

From what I know of the area and the described house, I would say it's £60K excessive at least.

She looked at me like I was utterly insane when I suggested "Now might not be the best time to buy?"

She's no fool - before working there she was in a vocation which was business related, ill health interrupted her career. She's certainly no dummy.

This property buying is a very hard addiction to break, that's why where I look I don't really see any meaningful price reductions, I baulk at the prices I really do, yet others seem to rush in and think they're cheap.

When almost everyone else SEEMS to be buying, it really makes you wonder what you're doing not similarly loading yourself up.
