Spam Debt Getoutofit Whatsit Phonecalls

Recommended Posts

I just answered one with a fake scottish accent saying my name was gordon brown and I've got the country into a lot of debt.

I don't think she believed me you know

:)

I am at breaking point with the sheer number we get. Ok 2 a day isn't a lot but it is if the phone only rings twice a day.

:)

I get around 2 a day, too, but they're all recorded messages. And they always manage to ring when I'm as far as poss from the phone, so I charge to get it in case it's someone important, like daughter working in the wilds of Ethiopia.

We get those each week, though not tried the Gordon Broon reply.

I rang back, asking can we order two Donners, they slam the phone down each time :(

I know. but you can speak to a real person and annoy them ...

We did a rickroll one a few months ago...

And I'm dying to do a "hello dave" one...

I do I spose have far too much time to think about these silly calls.

Like your style :-)

are you registered with the telephone preference service? That and the mail preference service pretty much dealt with junk mails and calls for me.

Anyone up for a campaign against marketing calls?

Objective: get the telcos to offer a package where the recipient can press an "unwanted nuisance call" button. The caller is then charged, say, £1 for the call. Soon mounts up where they're spamming millions of us.

Subsidiary objective: get legislation in place to facilitate the above.

Proceeds to go to charity (less a small administrative charge to the telcos for collecting it).

Safeguards: charges only to kick in when a caller exceeds a certain threshold of nuisance reports.

The Telephone Preference Service will sort them out.

99% anyway. I've had the odd few come through which is a wonderful excuse for a harangue.

Does it stuff.

I've got a mrs lucas registered on the lists with my phone number as an allowed call somehow.

I love giving the TPS spiel though. Asking for their company name, and their name is quite fun.

I ditched my landline.

Literally, gave the phone to a charity shop, life's too short to take canvassing calls, especially recorded ones.

I only use a mobile now.

Telephone preference service is useless, I complained to them a couple of times and still kept getting debt consolidation pre-records.

I kept getting canvassing calls to my mobile phone, usually 08000135333. Also from 01614917208.

99% of the time there was nobody there (machine dialling). I started opening the phone and leaving the line open to run up their bills. One day, after about 20s, a voise piped up asking if I could confirm, blah, blah..

I shouted, without an expletive, down the phone that I was sick of them calling me. Don't ever call me again, etc.

I got to do it with the other no the next day.

They have stopped. For the last week anyway.

I get them on my work phone if I stay past half 5. I always press the button to speak to someone and then see how long I can keep the on the phone by using only one word.

OK I going to try that one next.

I am going to be so gutted if they stop ringing!

Helps you understand why they have made mobile numbers available as well as landlines; as, as we discussed at a dinner party last night (the new going out you know), not one of us had a landline, and if we did we disconnected it to avoid cold calls(virgin) and used the free (ahem) calls on the mobiles ----- expect to get more on the mobile soon!!

Our office record is 125s with 'kay, which worked as both agreement and the person's name :)

I've got 90s with "sure"
