Public Sector Epic Fail

Recommended Posts

From the Commission for Architecture and The Built Environment (CABE).

CABE's original funding agreement :

CABE’s strategic objective is that by 2010:

it will have injected the importance of place-making into the bloodstream of the nation

to such an extent that England will be regarded as European leaders in prioritising the

quality of places through public and private investment"

A Headline from 2009

"Families are living in 'rabbit hutch Britain', with new homes offering the smallest rooms in Europe. Newly built

properties are so cramped that they do not provide enough space to cook, have visitors around or simply relax.

EPIC FAIL ?

Free-market failure. CABE has advisory role only.

Like basically all unthinking public bodies in modern day Britain, CABE is full of naive socialist apparatchiks who sit in their Georgian mansions dictating how the great unwashed shall live. That even includes willfully ignoring all their past failures and celebrating the misery they have inflicted on people over the years by attempting to get their previous shitty collectivist hell holes protected with listed building status.

These socialist sightseers even wanted Lakanal House to be listed because they thought it looked pretty, never mind the fact it had the architecture of a deathtrap.

Modern planning policy is based on a report by Lord Rogers from a few years back called 'Towards a Strong Urban Renaissance', he basically said we should repeat all the mistakes of the 1960's and live in rabbit hutches, and guess what, that's exactly what we now have. Now all the gloss and money has faded away, bodies like CABE are just starting to realise what their members and corporate builders have done to housing in this country.

Never put idiots in charge of anything :-
