News From The Pentagon

There's five sides to every story.

Gulp, all US embassies to keep enough cash for 6-18 months.

Rumours of a Bank holiday coming end of 2009?

It's all coming together...

---

Perhaps it's to control the celebrations now that the recovery is here.

400,000 US troops deployed in the US. Now that's scary. They must be expecting trouble.

What kind of situation would require nearly half a million troops FFS !

Are they expecting a Chinese invasion or something?

WTF ??

In June, the U.S. Northern Command distributed a “Congressional Fact Sheet†entitled “Legislative Proposal for Activation of Federal Reserve Forces for Disasters.†That proposal would amend current law, thereby “authorizing the Secretary of Defense to order any unit or member of the Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Navy Reserve, and the Marine Corps Reserve, to active duty for a major disaster or emergency.â€

Taken together, these reserve units would amount to “more than 379,000 military personnel in thousands of communities across the United States,†explained

Paul Stockton, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs, in a letter to the National Governors Association, dated July 20.

I reckon 1 of 4 things... Famine, Imminent Earthquake, Invasion, Civil War, four horseman are advancing on the land of the free, which one will get there first.

Interesting. To put this in context, the US army consists of just over a million personnel, and from what I can gather, around 550,000 are in active duty, of which roughly 250,000 are stationed abroad. Being stretched militarily has caused many an empire to collapse...

On October 23rd, the communists began an uprising in Hamburg. With memories of the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 still fresh in the memories of Germans, this must have set alarms bells furiously ringing. Was Weimar Germany about to go the way of Tsarist Russia? The message racing through the minds of many a panicked German must have been "Get out of here!" and spare no expense in doing so!

Tales of mass executions and the often violent expropriation of wealth by Lenin and his cohorts surely would have focused the minds of wealthy Germans on getting their wealth changed into a form that was easily transportable and that could only mean gold. With an equivalent amount of silver weighing about sixteen times as much, it seems quite apparent that demand for gold skyrocketed whilst other forms of tangible but more cumbersome wealth were traded in for gold to the extent that people were prepared to give up 90% of their assets to accommodate this dectupling of the gold price.
