Sandbanks Dream Home Raffle Falls Apart

Recommended Posts

Now, instead of the house, the winner should receive the cash from all the entry fees – minus 20 per cent “to cover the promoters’ costs and expenses.â€

But according to the competition’s own terms and conditions the final decision on the winner is already overdue.

Some entrants were starting to worry after not hearing any news more than a week after the competition closed on July 31.

Nice :)

Lets say 25,000 people entered (way short of the 52,000 "they needed"). 25K x 25GBP = 625,000GBP

625K / 100 x 20 = 125,000GBP is 20%

125K minus costs from a failed raffle. Not bad!

Nope. That's how these scams work. They knew they draw would never go ahead - even if they managed to get anywhere near the 52,000 entries they needed, the gambling commission have put a stop to draws taking place in the past. So they get to pocket their 20% and hold on to their home. Easy money.

I guess what I mean is - yeah I get that people are a bit daft for going into in the first place. Why do we have gambling laws etc... surely if it was closed down they would have to refund. Its no better than snake oil or ponzi..

at the very least wont the people just burn the place and the people in it - o dear I appear to have watched too much CSI :)
