Mps Attack Mortgage Arrears Fees

Recommended Posts

BBC story on unfair fees:

A committee of MPs has attacked the way some mortgage lenders levy high charges on customers who fall into arrears.

The Treasury Committee said this practice was "intolerable" and demanded that the Financial Services Authority (FSA) put a stop to it.

blah blah more here

This little nugget leapt out at me:

The committee took evidence during a short inquiry in June and July. It was told that nearly 400,000 homeowners in the UK were behind with their mortgage repayments by March this year.

This little nugget leapt out at me:

course, if ANY of them were living in the real world, they might have noticed a number of campaigns have been going on for YEARS about high bank fees, unfair charges and the Courts taking fracking ages to make decisions on whether the charges are legal or not.

being lawmakers, one would have thought a prerequisite for them was to actually be in a position to SEE what needs changing without being spoon fed the information.

Keep the noise down will ya, I'm trying to fill in my expenses and get them off to the fees office.

MPs outrage as their close relatives fall into arrears.

"we told our kids property only ever goes up and gifted them the deposits - let's face it, this is making us look stupid now, something must be done"
