Controversial plans to sell off 26 PSNI stations were backed by members of the Northern Ireland Policing Board today.

PSNI chief constable Sir Hugh Orde wants to dispose of the facilities - most already closed down or only open on a limited basis - to generate £7.3 m in resources and money saved on their upkeep.

More proposed sales are likely to follow as police continue a review of estate.

Might be of interest to the tinfoil-hatters in the main forum!Seriously though, 250,000 a pop for a police barracks, seems a little cheap to me? Especially given their locations?

Seriously I know someone who would be keen to buy one. Plenty of sturdy rooms (with en-suites) for guests should the situation arise too!

250k would be a great price for some of them.

It could be even less than that. £7.6 million was what could be made from the sale of the builds, plus cost of maintenance, which I imagine isn't cheap either.

Wasn't that the plan for the Crumlin Road courthouse before those pesky kids with matches got to it ;)

Lol. Going up the Crumlin Road is the closest you get to time-travelling back to the 1980's.
