A carbon fibre framed (and just about every other part too) top of the range road bike. I look like the sad old git that I am riding it but the combination of better technology and embarrassment at riding such a piece of kit slowly has added about 15% to my average speed.

The wife.

If it's still in guarantee and not visibly tampered with. You could try and take it back.

A Sony 32" HD TV package with matching Sony Blu-ray, HDMI cable and surge protected four gang plug.

I think Dabs dropped the ball on the pricing - £600 for the lot. Individual components add up to about £900.

Sony Ericsson C905 - didn't actually cost anything, contract renewal plus they gave me £50 for the old phone. 8.1 Megapixel camera, GPS, Google Earth.. even allows you to speak to other people at a distance, apparently.

For Mac fans - their latest and greatest:

Shinny or shiny?

I don't do gadgets and boys-toys. I'll probably say an Asda pedal bin (15 litres capacity) for £14.99.

:(

I suppose you can look forward to putting some rubbish into that bad boy when you get home.

Phhhhhh....

My old car was on its last legs, so bought a VW Golf 1.6L FSI, few years old, low mileage. Not shiny as in new, but pretty cool.

Despite being asked 3 times whether I wanted finance, I did not :P I bet they make more on the finance than the cars.

Nice thread, btw - as you say it shouldn't all be doom and gloom - we only have one life and need to make the most of it

A MIG welder!

Using the afterburner of a Russian fighter to do a bit of plumbing might prove impractical in the longer term.

A set of three kitchen knives, proper jobs.

They're quite shiny too.

Nice, cut up the veg crisp, don't have to sharpen all the time, more elegant of the plate. I understand.

Get them swords of culinary magic out tonight and make a meal fit for a king.
