Are The British Slow To Anger...

Recommended Posts

Just wondering...

I mean, apparently the UK is the worst hit of all the countries in this credit crunch, we have been forced to bail out the banks and no doubt the next 10 years in the UK will be very difficult re public services, pensions, unemployment, etc, etc, but, within a few months of bailing out the banks, the bankers are happily giving each other enormous bonuses.

They know they have got away with it.

They know they can carry on regardless.

Anywhere else in the World, especially in France, the bw ankers would have been in serious trouble by now but not here in the UK - why?

Are we really slow to anger or are we just a bunch of wimps with submissive inner needs bordering on cultural, economic and class masochism?

I think many Brits are so astonished to find themselves in the victim group that their minds have frozen.

They may wake up one day but i very much doubt it.

They'll just carry on as usual worrying about their precious house prices and watching East Enders.

Meanwhile the Banksters and their lickspittle politicians, all bought and paid for, will just continue robbing them, stealing their childrens future.

No, think it's more to do with the fact that those in power (politically & economically) know that due to lack of investment in 'core' business and an unbelievable faith in the power of the service economy that we're basically dependent on finance & the like. If the bonus culture is seriously threatened then the fear is that they'll bugger off and we're left with SFA, nyada, nothing. The bankers know this and they know they can do whatever they want and the taxpayers will underwrite it. :(

The British have a lot of pent up anger.

We will unleash it at some point.

Seemed to me for a long time now that all that really matters to the average Englishman is how big his house is, and how new and fast his German saloon is. That's it. They've been ring-fenced and defined by class and status symbols for so many centuries they can't help it.

So one could say there might be a certain re-evaluation of the Meaning of Life coming over th enext two or three years and about time too. As for physical protest, it could happen. It happened over miners' strikes and poll tax so I see no reason why it won't happen when half the population have their houses repossessed.

We live in the most brilliantly contrived and perfectly executed totalitarian state ever devised. Mass murder isn't necessary because people believe the fairy tales government and the media plant in their tiny underdeveloped minds every moment of the day.

We are slaves and we have owners.....but we don't realize it because the state, in cahoots with the media, the bankers and the political elite have created a system where as long as you can buy zhit you don't need with money you don't have, you have endless distractions in the way of celebrity tittle tattle, cheap thrills entertainment including sports and there is an endless surplus of bullzhit masquerading as serious political debate, people believe their slavery is freedom.

It's pretty bloody incredible really isn't it? It really is INCREDIBLE.

And many people have probably read science fiction novels which describe a similar fictional reality or read books by Orwell and they STILL can't make the connection.

Most people do not view this or similar websites and get their news from the BBC or the Sun/Express/Mail. They have absolutely no idea how badly the economy has been run or how compromised their future is for the sake of short term political gains.

I would love there to be anger, it would mean they are awakened.

There is a thread off topic about the bleach incident arising from unruly youths in a cinema - why was it a women on her own who said something and not the rest of those who would have been equally annoyed in the cinema. They day people stand up with that woman and end the tyranny is the day we take back control.

We are a pathetic bunch - stupid and ignorant in equal measure. And they know it. Expenses scandal, banking bonuses, public sector largess... a little consternation then it's forgotten.

Years of conditioning to be fearful.

Of losing their job, debt (credit) rating, house, pension, stuff, and trusting that the government is 'on your side'.

Still, may as well make the most of life. It's only a brief game after all.

Your right, but I don't think it's a plan or some big conspiracy theory, it's just the evolution of capitalism good or bad. As of late, very bad.

Most people simply don't realise how badly they have been ******ed over yet.

Wait until thier taxes rise and public spending falls or conversely public borrowing continues and food/fuel/gizmos rise through a debased currency. But by then it'll be to late.

Most people in Britain have absolutely no idea how much their taxes are going to up over the next decade. No idea. Massive, massive tax increases. Taxes so high you won't be able to pay your mortgage or fill your car up. That is when the reaction will happen.

Yes she did. But I forget the context. The left will take it to mean Thatcher is vile, evil scum, look what she said! The right will say it was about improving educational standards.

It was a long time ago.
