Graduates to get gap-year money

What is wrong with the government? First of all this scheme is open to a whopping 500 people. Secondly, the article says Applicants will also have to prove an overseas expedition would be beyond their means without the bursary. But then with barely a breath between sentences says Prince William spent 10 weeks in Chile on a Raleigh International expedition (I should think his personal protection detail cost more than the £3000 he presumably was required to prove was beyond his means.)

Lastly, this scheme exposes a government that has all but given up on its youth and would prefer them to 'just bugger off and do something else for a while'. There's currently a 20% unemployment rate in the UK for under 25 and 500 people being shipped off to India to build a well aint going to change an awful lot. This isn't a 'new government scheme' as the title says, its little more than a class field trip.

Is this the best that the Department for Department for Business, Innovation and Skills can do for young people?

Yes, it seems, because they are young so no-one has to represent them and they don't own property so they are irrelevant.

They heavily discriminate against 18-24 year olds across the spectrum, whether it be educational funding, welfare, housing you name it - nothing new there. :(

Time the immigrants were told to leave as we need the jobs for our own people and yet the are continuing to flood in at a grater rate.

Immigration is fine as long as it's done fairly, which is the problem the UK has...why should people from eg. Poland be allowed in freely to work whilst people from eg. the USA/Canada/Australia/New Zealand not be?
