RIP

A great, generous, kind man who showed just how to battle a terrible disease with the utmost dignity and in a completely selfless manner.

There is a lesson in there somewhere.

Blimey - its almost like he waited to get the Englang v Germany legends match out of the way, and then finally he could rest.

What a fitting tribute that the stars of the 1990 world cup played one last time in front on Sir Bobby last week.

RIP Sir Bobby.

The big C may have finally got him, but he gave it a damn god kick in the balls 4 times before. What a fighter.

RIP Bobby.

Everyone likes/liked Bobby...........

If people can say that about anyone in sport when they have gone, then regardless of trophies and medals they would have been succesful in life and true winners..

Thanks for the memories Bobby

God bless you Bob.

I have never felt as much emotion watching a football match than England vs Germany in 1990 and never will again.

You were an absolute legend and wonderful man.

Jumping the gun a tad aren't we?

I don't think so, the game has changed. Even if the multi millionaire playboys who represent our country at international level get it together to win the world cup would you care? It just wouldn't be the same.

RIP Bobby.

You're right; with the possible exception of the Euro 96 semifinal, I have also never felt as passionate about an England team as i did that day in June 1990. The game has changed beyond all recognition in the 19 years since then, and I find today's hyper-commercialism, celebrity player tantrums, amoral behaviour and all-round douche-baggery extremely unpleasant. I haven't followed the Premiership in years, and I couldn't tell you who won it, who came second, third, etc even for last season. Did Man U win it? Honestly don't care anymore...

Sir Bobby Robson represents a dwindling breed of men who came up in football when it was the British working man's game, not the commercial homage to the banality of the unchained ego it is today.

They really don't make 'em like Bobby anymore :(
