There is a lot of information out there: Some of the best, from a patient perspective, is produced by HIV activist groups. This is because these groups are highly organised, very clued in and hepatitis is often a coinfection for people living with HIV (dont worry, though - the converse is not so true).

A few things to bear in mind:

You should always ask your doctor for advice on this sort of thing: People from drug companies are forbidden by law from giving you advice.

On any website, try and work out who is funding it: Dont discount what you read on the basis of the VI, but bear it in mind.

Dont confuse Hep B with any of Hep (A, C etc) of the treatments for those: They are apples and pears, rhinos and tigers.

Much of the info on the web is US based: Treatments are often subtly different in the UK.

OK, so, to two of the best sources of information:

The European Medicines Agency Summary for the Public on Barraclude:

http://www.emea.europa.eu/humandocs/PDFs/E...e/H-623-en1.pdf

One of the more informative patient advocacy groups

Edit to add: Oh, and good luck: I hope you make a full recovery.

If you are in London, see Phil Harrison at London Bridge hospital - probably the top hepatology specialist in the UK.

My Australian mate took this when he was diagnosed with acute hep b. He reckons he got it from a Jap bird he was seeing at the time and riding bareback (silly, silly boy). Hep b and c are rampant in the orient, and yes, even the "good" girls can be carriers  He went as yellow as a banana and had zero energy for about 2 months. Was cured though.

He now makes sure to rubber up no matter how cute the girl is ;)
