Pen Pushers

Recommended Posts

Some d!ckhead with a clip board and camera, told me, that if it wasnt for pen pushers I wouldnt have a job.

My reply was "if wasnt for people like me, productive manual workers, you wouldnt earn a living" Ponce.

Anyway, he was an inspector to tell the Council that one of their abused properties has writing on the walls, so it will need painting.

More TAX payers money up the swanny, also the council pays private companies to remove make believe Asbesto Panels :o

This country is so fooked up, Im seriously thinking about turning work in and joining the dole que <_<

Its just the disgrace of a world we live in.

Im by no means a moobat tree-hugger, but its this attitude that we have to have full employment, high consumption and everyone and their children has to dig deep to ensure it stays that way that causing us to deplete this planet of its resources at an ever accelerating pace.

If you want to do something patriotic, ecologically sound, moral and decent, dont pay your taxes.

all part of NuLabours plan I'm afraid.

even when the snow hit's,you have more ambulance-chasing lawyers and stress-counsellors on the job than people with shovels hacking the ice off the roads.

how on earth did we cope just a couple of decades ago?

I can remember the transit-pick up van stacked full of salt, with two blokes(no luminescent vest either),manually shovelling the stuff off the back of a truck.

boy are we pussies these days!

....Agree very much so

Well we did cope, if we didnt have tha latest granite kitchen worktops, we made do with tatty old formica.

We didnt fill our minds with quite the same vacuous crap or desires?

I'm as guilty myself, why on earth did I replace my 32" LCD with a 37" etc?

Dont know what the answer is, maybe human race has a self distruct button, maybe its just biology and we havent evolved.

And as for more pen pushers, to be comfortable, maybe we only need to work 3hours per week per person in an oil based economy on truly productive things (making things), the rest is 'service based'

It is in many peoples nature - myself included - to always want more. 18" TV did me thru childhood, but since then I've had a 28, 32 and now 42 and 50 is on the cards when funds permit - see below.

Cars - was over the moon with my first 75bhp cheese eating surrender monkey shit box, yet since then have gone 120 Alfa, 140 Civic, 231 BMW and am now saving for a 335d (I cover some miles these days and am lazy - torque monsters that rarely visit petrol stations suit me).

I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that it will be difficult at first, but as the standard of living in the UK drops more towards India and China we'll adapt - after all, how on earth did I manage to have a very happy childhood with a 18" TV with 4 channels, self-drive holidays in a tin can in France all largely before the invention of the 3D accelerator :-)

So long as you do it in your means.

Unfortunately, we as a country do not.
