Celica's are usually quite reliable, I had a gen 4 which didn't give me too much trouble. Then again it was a non turbo front wheel drive so less to go wrong. Yours looked like a good example.

That one wasn't mine (mine was black), the only car I drove since with similar (but probably not quid as good) handling was the Nissan z350 :P I drove the latest celecia but it wasnt in the same league, slow and and a tenancy to wheel spin when pulling away...

the Carlos Sainz has the potential to become a real classic, the rest are a bit odd - stupidly fast for their time but strangely inert in a way the 2wd was not. And A LOT of them had have had a lot of very uncaring owners who just turned up the turbo for that 300hp effect - and buggered their engines and turbos. then turned it back down to sell it and claimed their auntie had only ever used it to go to the shops....

I'd see turbo failure and replacement as inevitable on stuff like this - especially if it's been driven properly..... :) - a lot less chav than an Impreza or an Evo or rich middle aged chav/IT consultant like a garage queen Escort Cosworth (Monte Carlo in mallard natch) - I wanted one, but could not afford to run it at the time.....

it had a ceramic bits inside the turbo, very very expensive!
